4/16/20 draft from “death toll” (a section from “Covid19”)

I’ve been working on a hybrid piece of rhymes and footnotes (roughly 30 pages in total as of now) about the experience of processing the Covid19 pandemic since mid March before social distancing measures had been announced. The piece is divided into sections and explores many different aspects of this awful event including what it’s like to go grocery shopping, what the science is behind the virus, the politics and economics, statistics, and also the psychological and emotional aspects. This section, “death toll” is part of the piece which focuses on the psychological aspect since there is something almost nonplussing about these stammering and very haunting and upsetting numbers…
